Horizons of Relevance and Socio-bibliographic Inquiries

Ethnomethodological investigations of textual materials as locally organised, discipline-specific literature�s. Through detailed analyses of bibliographies as accountable texts, researchable phenomena include recognising relevance, disciplinary boundaries and interdisciplinarity, citation analysis and bibliographic methods as ordinary actions.

Hotdesking: A Potential Link in the eWorker�s Information Chain

Multi-case study exploring the impact of hotdesking, or temporary workspaces in an organization, on employees' information flows. A comparative examination of Canadian and Irish experiences with hotdesking permits an understanding of best practices for implementation of hotdesking in these countries.

Personal Construct Theory as a research tool in Library and Information Science. Case Study: Development of a user-driven classification of photographs

This research project applies Personal Construct Theory and Repertory Grids to individual user perceptions of photographs. Preliminary results show a high level of consistency among the personal constructs which participants used to distinguish between photographs from the Irish Folklore Archive.

Recent developments in LIS Schools:case studies of Schools in the UK ,Ireland, Australia and Canada

The enquiry attempts to elucidate recent developmental features upon a comparative basis in four countries and also to identify causation. It looks at changing circumstances vis a vis third level host institutions and attempts to identify the position of LIS now in respect of academic relationships . It examines enviromental influences and the impact of clientele etc. upon policy. The project also examines the changing profile of academic staff, the student body. curricula, reseach and teaching practice
