Library and Information Research is published by the Library and Information Research Group. It is distributed free to members of the Group and is also available on subscription to libraries and other institutions.

Before 2003 the journal was published under the title Library and Information Research News. The new title was adopted as the word "News" no longer adequately describes the content or focus of the journal.
