Development of computational methods for 3D similarity and structure-based design techniques in lead optimisation (EPSRC CASE)

The lead optimisation phase of drug discovery involves successive cycles of design and synthesis in order to identify structures within a chemical series that have desired properties. This project involves the development of software tools based on 3D similarity methods to assist in this process.

The Archives and Records Management Workforce Study: recruitment, training and leadership for the UK sector

The project will help the sector to retain, support and develop a workforce appropriate to its current and future needs. It will seek to create a coherent framework for future professional recruitment, education, training and development, and help to improve responsiveness to change. It will increase the amount and quality of information available to managers, educators, and selectors, leading to more effective decision- making.

Libraries must also be buildings? A new library impact study

With the advent of ICT the idea of the public library as a physical space and the role it plays in the wider community is coming into question. The opening of several new library buildings in the past year provides a unique opportunity to assess the impact some of these new public library buildings have on their user communities. In making this assessment the research will identify the variables that affect the kind of impact that is made, and develop a methodology for the future assessment of impact
